Concrete slabs for sheds, workshops and equipment

Concrete walkways and sidewalks

A walkway to the front door, a path to the back gate, or a strip beside the driveway, with a broom finish for grip and joints at regular spacing so cracks stay straight. HomeGuide (February 2026) puts a concrete sidewalk at $7 to $17 per square foot installed. Gentle curves cost a little more to form than straight runs.

Work on the public sidewalk along the street needs the City's approval: in Huntsville, replacing or altering one needs the City's Driveway Curb Cut Permit, which covers "any curb, guttering, or sidewalk." To report a damaged public sidewalk, contact the City.

Concrete steps

Good steps feel the same underfoot all the way up: every riser the same height and every tread the same depth. That's why worn or broken steps are usually re-formed rather than patched step by step. HomeGuide (December 2025) puts poured steps at $200 to $500 per step. Ask about handrails where you need them, and about a slip-resistant finish.

Saving money on small concrete jobs

Every job needs a crew and a concrete delivery, whatever its size, so small pads cost more per square foot. Combining a slab, a walkway and steps into one pour is the easiest way to save. See concrete prices in Huntsville.
